A broke backpacker, clinging to a door-to-door sales job, knows something's off the moment a man invites her inside—but she ignores her gut for the sake of politeness. Now, her only way out is to outplay a man who may not let her leave.

"Don't Be Rude" (2025) is a short film written and directed by Jessica Hof and starring Lola McLeod and Spencer Schunk. On this film, I was the graphic designer, animator and poster designer.

The film screened as part of the official selections of the 2025 Toronto Independent Film Festival, Femme Filmmakers Festival and the London Lift-Off Film Festival. It won the award for Best Short Women's Issue Film at the 2025 Toronto Independent Film Festival of Cift.

Our discussions and moodboarding led us to some cinematic touchstones that included 'The Beguiled' (2017), 'To Die For' (1995), 'Midsommar' (2019) and 'I Care A Lot' (2020). Jessica selected a still from the film - featuring lead actress Lola McLeod-Riera - which she wanted to use for the poster. We experimented with numerous colour, font and layout options before arriving at the final design.

The animations and motion graphics through the film were created to show the audience what texts were being sent and received.
