A broke backpacker, clinging to a door-to-door sales job, knows something’s off the moment a man invites her inside—but she ignores her gut for the sake of politeness. Now, her only way out is to outplay a man who may not let her leave. “Don’t Be Rude” (2025) is a short film written and directed by Jessica Hof. On this film, I was the graphic designer, animator and poster designer.
Our discussions and moodboarding led us to some cinematic touchstones that included “The Beguiled” (2017), “To Die For” (1995), “Midsommar” (2019) and “I Care A Lot” (2020).
Jessica selected a still from the film - featuring lead actress Lola McLeod-Riera - which she wanted to use for the poster. We experimented with numerous colour, font and layout options before arriving at the final design (see below).
The animations and motion graphics through the film were created to show the audience what texts were being sent and received.
