The 30th International Council for Open and Distance Education World Conference 2025 (or ICDE30) takes place on 10-13 November 2025 at Takina Events Centre, Wellington, New Zealand The theme for 2025 is Ako Tuwhera: Open Learning for Open Learners, focusing on equity, artificial intelligence, the indigenisation of education and education systems.
The logo design for ICDE30 begins with the classic New Zealand iconography of a silver fern. In this context, the fern creates pathways and offshoot paths of stepping stones into an unexplored future full of choice and potential, as we all grapple with the sudden technological changes in our society and their inevitable impacts on the future of open and distance education. The design includes a contemporary colour scheme built on tone-on-tone fresh New Zealand forest greens, a subtle twist and warp to the fern’s overall shape, and a distinctive sans serif font. Tying into the event’s anniversary, there are 30 stepping stones in the icon.
